The Country Club of Culiacán is much more than a golf course: it is a green oasis in Culiacán, Sinaloa, where sport, nature and family life come together, and which today forms part of the Sinaloa 360 routes. Between sunbathing iguanas, eucalyptus trees and artificial lakes, this club has become a symbol of the city since the 1960s.

Know by Virtual Reality the Country Club de Culiacán

A sports oasis in Culiacán

The Country Club of Culiacán is home to the “Las Iguanas” golf course, regarded as one of the most beautiful on the Mexican Pacific and famous for the iguanas that live in its trees, bask in the sun and mingle with the players as part of the everyday landscape. Its name comes from the large number of iguanas that live in the trees of the property, where they sun themselves and coexist with the players as part of the daily scenery.

The club even has a conservation program and an iguana enclosure where this species is protected and bred.

The fairways stretch out among lush eucalyptus trees, lakes and practice areas that include an 18-hole course, putting green and training area, making it an ideal place both for experienced golfers and for those who want to take up the sport.

History and tradition

The history of golf in Culiacán dates back to the mid-20th century, when a small group of enthusiasts began to promote the sport in simple facilities, laying the foundations for what is now the Country Club of Culiacán. As interest in golf grew, the Lomas de Culiacán Golf Club emerged and, finally, in 1966 the current Country Club of Culiacán was consolidated, which today is a sporting and social reference point in the city.

How this Virtual Tour was made

One Sunday morning, after a day of intense rain, I was on the golf course of the Culiacán Country Club, taking 360 spherical photographs to create this virtual tour.

I really liked the colors of the landscape, all the trees and plants were still wet and a pleasant aroma was perceived all throughout the place. Fortunately it was no longer raining and I was able to fly the Phantom 3 drone.
