The Gerontological Center of El Carmen, located just a few blocks away from the Catedral de Culiacán (the Culiacán cathedral), is the institution that gives continuity to the old and centennial Hospital del Carmen, founded in 1879 by Bishop Don Jesús María Uriarte.
While serving as Bishop of the Diocese of Culiacán in 2017, His Excellency, Bishop Don Jonás Guerrero Corona, an unshakeable advocate for the charitable care of elderly priests and lay people, encouraged the Coppel family, which was headed by Don Rubén Coppel, to remodel and rebuild the Catholic care facility, giving rise to the Gerontological Center of El Carmen.
It comprises five service areas dedicated exclusively to the care of the elderly: a geriatric clinic, a daycare, a nursing home (24-hour stay), complementary services (rehabilitation, gym, meals, etc.), and a priest’s home.
This institution is a majestic Sinaloan precinct where you can live the charity of the Catholic faith and the secular philanthropy of society.
Due to its altruist nature, the administration of the Gerontological Center of El Carmen covers its costs through private funds to be able to provide its services to the general public.
It’s an institution of Catholic charity that has been sustained for a long time through the philanthropic actions of organized individuals and authorities, who, in an extraordinary manner, provide certain funds to subsidize the institution.
It’s a work of all for all.
“Son, take care of your father in his old age, be indulgent, do not despise him in the fullness of your strength. For the service done to the father will not be forgotten” Ecclesiasticus 3:12-14
Virgen of Carmen, pray for us.

How was this Virtual Tour made
The aerial photos and videos were taken with a Mavic 2 Pro drone, which has a Hasselblad camera with a 1” CMOS sensor and 20 million effective pixels, allowing it to take night photographs with a wide, dynamic range.
I took the rest of the images with a Nikon D810 camera and a Nikkor 8-15 fisheye lens.
I thank Father Marco Alejandro Jimenez Pallaras for his support in making this work possible, as we began our activities at Hospital Del Carmen for several days at dawn.
