The MUSAM (Archaeological Museum of Mazatlán) originated in the convocation launched by the famous mazatleco Jose C. Valadez who wanted to form a museum of Mazatlán and for Mazatlán. The initiative was taken by his descendant Miguel Valadez who considerably expanded the collection and from his trench as Official Chronicler of the city convinced the authorities of Mazatlán to make the dream of his illustrious ancestor become true. This shipping company counts with 70 ships produced by a network of 30 proper offices located in different parts of the world and a wide network of agencies that allow it to offer solutions to its clients with a global coverage. This, since it not only transports new cars, but heavy and secondhand machinery and other mobile goods, as well as loads oversized and loads of project (rolling and static). The photos of this virtual tour I made took them in this one occasion with the Nodose pole Ninja to three meters high and to have major detail used a diaphragm f/11, with ISO 100 and a speed of obstruction of 1/200.
Teeming with Blue Marlin, White Marlin and Sailfish, the waters of Mazatlan coast are called the Billfish Capital of the World and deep sea fishing is the number one sport. F/11 or even smaller diaphragm apertures give a quite interesting effect in luminous objects as the sun or light bulbs forming starts that beautify the pictures. The shoot on board was complicated because of the shaking, so the stitching in PTGui was made manually by placing some points, due to automatically it was impossible, and then in Photoshop adding layers to make some corrections.
Plaza Machado is one of the most ancient in Mazatlán; historical records show it was built, in 1837, with the economic support of a rich storekeeper of cloth, silver and pearls, Juan Nepomuceno Machado. The plaza was originally built with a concourse which was surrounded with 36 majestic stone benches and leafy orange trees, being this the reason why this place was known as “Orange tree walk” during a long period of time. When he realized that the construction of the dam “Olas Altas” in 1832 had allowed to use a great part of the field near the sea, he had the opportunity to take possession of a big property that later would be donated to the city on condition that there would be established a public plaza. It was until 1881 when the plaza was renovated and a kiosk was added, which still remains today. Plaza Machado is a venue for Carnival celebrations, due to the gastronomic festival which takes place each year. In this festival the best and the most representative local restaurants offer their best dishes. Other activities, such as painting exhibitions, book fairs and political and cultural events take place here, too. Little Planet How this Virtual Tour was made In December, Plaza Machado was decorated due to Christmas holidays, creating a greater festivity atmosphere and generating a colorful sight with its Christmas lights. It’s one of the places I most appreciate in Mazatlán. Their well-preserved ancient buildings, cobbled streets, and exquisite scents from the local restaurants, their well-groomed gardens give an invitation to stroll around. This virtual tour was made at eye level and at 3 meters of height. For this occasion it was used an f/8 diaphragm aperture, ISO 1600 and 1⁄2 second speed as there was not too much movement.
December 16 was a festive day in Mazatlan, on this day, the arrival of the ships: Crown Princess, MS Veendam, Grand Princess and Norwegian Jewel, coincided at the captivating Pacific Harbour. Event which had not happened again since December in 2010. The beaches at Pacific coast are the main attraction of tourism in Mazatlan. The old beach “Olas Altas”, the large beach “Norte” which goes around Malecon; the crowded beaches “Gaviotas” and “Camaron Sabalo” at the hotel zone, and the calm beaches “Cerritos” and “Bruja”, form a various miles tour of golden sand, warm waves and amazing sceneries. The most adventurous people can take a catamaran at the port and visit the ecological reserve at the three islands or the mythical “Isla de la Piedra”. The hill “Cerro de la Neveria” offers one of the best panoramic views of the city and the hill “Cerro del Creston” keeps one of the highest lighthouses from all over the world. Mazatlan has various touristic places to visit. One of them, Plaza Machado, is the most attractive in the city; surrounded by historical places where to feel connected with the happy and traditional lifestyle from Sinaloa. Thousands of visitors from all around the world take a tour at its surroundings, where restaurants, jewelry shops, museums, theaters and other places can be found. Another touristic place, which must be visited, is the public square Rodolfo Sanchez Taboada, a tip hill known as “Punta de los clavadistas”, where every sunset a diving show is performed (on the sea) by athletes that can be appreciated by the crowd. Virtual Reality (VR) Virtual reality images for virtual reality glasses viewing in mobile devices There are no limits to see the world: live the experience by yourself in virtual reality ! Join us ! Little Planet How this Virtual Tour was made At the touristic cruise port (Mazatlan Port Administration) we met a festive atmosphere; in a perfect harmony, all the staff got prepared to receive the four ships and thousands of passengers, which attended different tours around the city. My friend, Dr. Hilda Inukai, Secretary of Economic Development, full of professionalism and enthusiasm as always, got us the license to make it possible to do this virtual tour. Due to that we are totally grateful to her. At 6 am, the photos were taken to use the “blue hour”. I’d like to emphasize that in the photographic processing, Lightroom CC was used to do the white balances, one by using a cold temperature to make the ships look white, and another one by using a warm temperature to highlight the orange and yellow colors of a lovely dawn. All day long, the visitors were met among every corner of the city, at restaurants, churches, the city center, the beaches, and everywhere. They seemed delighted by being welcome at the city.
The Malecón of Mazatlán Sinaloa is considered one of the longest in the world, on it can be seen some of the beautiful attractions of Mazatlán just like its beaches, sunsets and the sea. The Malecón Mazatlán from south to north or north to south has a length of twenty- one kilometers, along which can be found monuments , ancient buildings , hotels, restaurants , bars , discos, shops , cinemas, banks , clinics, people, among many other things. For Mazatlecos “natives of Mazatlán” their Malecón is the best place for release stress; they cross it daily and always find a reason to be surprised. In each section of the nine that compose it ( Puntilla- Ferry Pier , Lighthouse, Centennial , Olas Altas , Claussen , Avenida del Mar , Camarónes “Shrimp” Sábalo “chad”, Cerritos, Cerritos-Nuevo Mazatlan ) the different stages of the history of this beautiful tourist destination is reflected. Very early in the morning as well in the evenings there are hundreds of locals and visitors who exercise in any of the sections of the Malecón. In summer the warm season of Mazatlan, entire families take to the Malecon to enjoy the refreshing breeze of summer evenings, visitors join the nice custom. Little Planet How this Virtual Tour was made Night shots usually require high sharpness in its entirety and the only way to accomplish this is minimizing the opening of the diaphragm, by doing this we increase the depth of the field, normally I like the image depth around f / 8 and f / 11. Of course, this reduction in the flow of light is to be offset by a higher exposure time and/or increased sensitivity in order to obtain a properly expose picture. The time I settled in these photo spheres was half a second to 25 seconds. It was a real pleasure to do the virtual tour and walk at night through the beautiful Malecón of Mazatlán, very clean and bright, the scenery is amazing and many families take the opportunity to go for a walk and enjoy all its attractions. I hope to return soon to continue taking photographs of Mazatlán.
Mazatlan has a lot of tourist attractions, one of which is its gastronomy. It is famous for its “aguachile” (a shrimp dish), as well as a famous dish named “pescado zarandeado” (a fish sliced in half prepared with spices and put on top of hot coal to cook). Stuffed shrimp as well as “ceviche” a seafood preparation with vegetables. Marlin is also amongst the dishes. Around the Plazuela "Machado" one of the best restaurants is “Restaurant Casa 46”, a high cuisine restaurant. Throughout the city there are a lot of restaurants that have great prestige. In the center of town is the Plazuela Machado , which is one of the oldest in Mazatlan, built in 1837 under the wishes of a wealthy cloth merchant who specialized in silver and pearls , Don Juan Nepomuceno Machado. With the influence of the French and Spanish architecture, there are cafes, theaters, a museum, a hotel and musical events held throughout the year in the recently restored Plaza Machado. Little Planet How this Virtual Tour was made Inside the restaurant for more detail I used a diaphragm f/11, ISO 100 and for proper exposure shutter speed was 25 seconds as you can see the amount of noise in the picture minimum was, perhaps with some small adjustment in Lightroom. I made some corrections to the white balance. In the photo sphere where there is a window onto the Plazuela Machado, I did a second take, a 6 seconds (two steps less) and by the technique of selection channels in Photoshop avoided " burning or exposing" that area. The restaurant architecture is very nice; I hope you enjoy the Virtual Tour it as much as I did.
The youngest cathedral of Mazatlan, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, is the main religious building in the, of baroque style, and hosts Roman Catholic diocese ofMazatlan.Itislocatedinthehistoriccenter. Theconstructionofthetemplestarted in 1856 by order of the then Bishop Pedro Loza and Pardavé. Later, the priest Miguel Lacarra takes the construction works of the building which he proceeds to conclude in 1899. The consecration of the temple as basilica was held on December 12, 1941. On November 23, 1958 it was established by decree that the new and Second Diocese of Sinaloa will be based in Mazatlan. The building has a basilica floor and has three towers, which are the same height. It has an octagonal dome with lanterns, crowned by an iron cross. The towers are of two bodies and have truncated shaped prisms, which are crowned by a cross. The front of the cathedral has three arches, of strong neo gothic accent, which serve as the main access gate to the principal arch, it is on midpoint and it is supported by pilasters, which at the same time support the triangular pediment. Inside the building, there are elements of a Neo-Gothic style, it also presents some of neoclassical influence; this mixture of styles is due to eclecticism art, very fashionable at the time. At the same time the parish of Mazatlan and the basilica of the Immaculate Conception was declared a Cathedral. Initially the new Diocese of southern Sinaloa had seven parishes in the mountains of Durango and eleven in southern Sinaloa. That day 4 tourists cruises arrived and many visitors had gone to visit the temple, which made it more complicated stitching images in PTGui. The result worked as seen in this Virtual Tour.
Rebuilt twice and inaugurated three, the Angela Peralta Theater in Mazatlan is today a magnificent room that, in addition to its beautiful architecture, features the most modern advancements to present shows. Angela Peralta Castera (Mexico City July 6, 1845 - Mazatlan, August 30, 1883) was a world famous Mexican soprano singer in the nineteenth century, known as "The Mexican Mockingbird" and called in Italy "Angelica di voce e di nome ". She conquered the leading European stages before the age of 20. The first stone was laid in 1869, the last one in 1992, and in October of that same year the new "Teatro Angela Peralta" was inaugurated with "Carmen de Bizet's" opera. It was sang by the company of Fine Arts along with guest artists, except the children's choir, which was local, and the orchestra director who was Enrique Patron de Rueda from Mazatlan. Little Planet How this Virtual Tour was done The photograph of the Theatre Angela Peralta was made in two stages, the exterior by the afternoon at the blue hour, with a color of the sky which contrasts with the saturated colors that generates artificial lighting and the interior was taken the next morning. It was a wonderful experience to capture images of its beautiful architecture. I made two shots, the first with an exposure of 6 seconds and the second of 1.5 seconds and with a selection of channels and by using layers in Photoshop, I managed to have information to not “burn” the nearby areas to the reflectors. By the way, the theater lighting system drew my attention, it is splendidly handled by professional technicians.
